Pashmina is a kind of Cashmere but it refers to the premium fibres from the Himalayan region. Its softer, warmer and more comfortable than regular cashmere.
Cashmere comes from various breeds of goats in himalayas whereas Pashmina is made from the undercoat of a specific himalayan goat found primarily in the high-altitude regions of Ladakh in India. . Cashmere fabric has 15-19 microns diameter whereas Pashmina fibre is thinner that is 10-15 microns.Pashmina wool is exceptionally fine and thin – just about 13-19 microns (1/1000th of mm). To put this in perspective, a strand of human hair is 200 microns thick.Pashmina stoles can weigh as little as 95gms.
